Six years ago, Brodeur put his personal cell number on TV. He still answers it. The campaign’s opening TV ad, narrated by Jason’s wife Christy, follows Senator Brodeur picking up calls at home, at the park, and in the checkout line while she looks on with the patience of someone who has watched this for six years.
“It has been overwhelmingly positive,” Brodeur told Florida Politics. “Most valuable, it has been an opportunity to stay connected with the people I serve. It has been fun.”
“It’s just the perfect description of Jason,” Ryan Houck told Florida Politics. “When we were struggling to find the best way to describe it, we realized the perfect vehicle was Christy. You’ve got to have a candidate who’s willing to put his cell phone on TV, and then answer the phone. And then you have to have someone like Christy, who’s an ambassador for it. I’m not sure every campaign has that.”
The ad drew notice from Gov. Ron DeSantis and former Gov. Jeb Bush, and no small amount of agreement that this is simply who Jason Brodeur is.
